August 4, 2007:
Christi and I were called by Mark and Linda Roberts (our Sr. Pastor and his wife at Irvine Presbyterian Church) to come over to their house the day before we were leaving on the Jr. High Mission trip to San Francisco. Their son, Nathan, was scheduled to go on this mission trip with us. We arrived and they had us sit down and shared with us (one of the first to know) that Mark had decided to accept a job as Sr. Director and Scholar in Residence for a Christian Retreat Center known as Laity Lodge down in Texas. They were moving to a small town called Boerne (pronounced BURN-EE) and would be leaving on August 21st. Mark would then return for the month of September to finish preaching for the month and then finish his time at IPC on Sept. 30th and move with his family to Texas.
This was devastating news for me. I was so sad to hear this. Mark Roberts has played a very large and significant role in my life. Mark hired me after I had a terrible experience in another Presbyterian Church. It was through my time with Mark that I felt fully healed. In addition, Mark has been a great friend, a great mentor, a great boss, and someone I have looked up to, respected, and enjoyed spending time with. Also, Mark was the one who performed my wedding ceremony – and gave Christi and I the most beautiful, personalized ceremony that I could have ever hoped for or imagined. Mark has been a huge influence in my life. So, finding out he was moving was extremely difficult for me and left me unsure of what was next in my own life.

Len,
If i post the entire story at once then:
1) People will NEVER read the whole thing... it is SO long and would feel like too much to read at once.
and
2) I wouldn't get a chance to show people some of the INCREDIBLE God-led elements of this amazing Journey.
Not trying to tease... but wanting to share the whole story and hope that people will read it because they only have to read a short little bit each day. :)
