I figured it would be very helpful, especially considering the amazing nature and speed that everything has been occurring to journal the details of what God has been doing in my life on this Journey. As I begin this journal, I have no idea where it will end, but that is part of the exciting nature of the journey – seeing where God takes us.
Before it all began:
It is important to record some very significant events that have happened that form some of the background helpful in understanding this incredible journey. I wanted to start with that.
July 2006:
In July of 2006, Christi and I traveled with Irvine Presbyterian Church to South Africa and Swaziland on a 2 1/2-week long mission trip. This was an incredible mission trip. But the significance of this trip went deeper than just the trip itself or the experiences while in Africa. Upon returning from South Africa I found myself feeling as if God had taken the recliner chair I had become so comfortable in here in Irvine and spun it around over and over again and then pushed me out of my seat.
This resulted in me having a constant, nagging feeling of unsettledness in my life. It was not an issue of being unhappy or anything of the sorts, but simply feeling like God was stirring my soul for something different – although I had NO idea what. I shared with numerous people over the past year and a half my feelings and have had many, including myself, praying for God’s direction and leading in my life – especially if he wanted something different for me.
I never could have imagined what that stirring was leading up to in my life.... and thus begins my journey to Texas.
Stay tuned for more... the story goes from unbelievable to amazing to even more amazing.
