Wow. It has been a LONG road with this... and most of my readers probably won't even remember any of my posts about beginning the process to become Fost/Adopt parents. We started this process about 2 years ago in California with Child Protective Services. We had done a lot of the training and classes and began a lot of the paperwork. Then we got the call to move to Texas and put things on hold, then had to find out what would transfer to Texas, and then begin with their Child Protective Services to continue pursuing Fost/Adopt. Finally, today, we are nearing the HOME STRETCH!!!!
While I am sitting here typing, Christi is meeting with our social worker to do our Home Study. Christi is doing her personal interview first, and then it will be my turn. We are nervous about this and this Home Study apparently takes a LOT longer than we expected and even longer than others who have done this process in the past had taken. Our social worker said it would take about 14-16 hours of interviews with Christi and me. That means it is going to take 2 full days of sitting here talking and interviewing with our social worker, just so we can (hopefully) finish the final step and be approved to be foster parents (on the way to adopting our foster child... Lord Willing).
So, if you read this... PLEASE pray for us. We have this final step and then we have the "hurry up and wait" process to wait to be placed with a child. But at least we feel like we are finally on the home stretch. It has been a LONG road and we've been yearning to have children since the day we were married. Now I pray that the final steps don't take too long and that God will place us with a child very soon. And once that happens, my life will COMPLETELY change... but it will be 100% worth it!!!
